Crypto Market News Today: Fear Index Hits Historic Low of 5 as SpaceX Files $1.75T IPO With 8,285 BTC on the Books, XRP Realized Losses Hit 2022 Levels, but Pepeto Rallies on Real Utility
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index fell to 5 on Alternative.me, marking extreme fear at a level seen only three times since 2018. Bitcoin dropped below $65,000 as BTC lost over 24% year to date while gold surged to $5,230 and the US 10 year yield fell below 4% for the first time since November 2024. SpaceX is preparing a confidential IPO filing targeting a $1.75 trillion valuation and holding 8,285 BTC worth roughly $545 million in Coinbase Prime custody.
BTC trades at $66,865 on March 2. ETH holds $1,963. SpaceX holds BTC through a $235 million drawdown without selling a single coin. Visit Pepeto and see a project that builds through fear the same way SpaceX holds through drawdowns.
Historic Fear Creates Historic Opportunity
The Fear and Greed Index hit 5 only three times since 2018. Every previous reading at this level preceded a recovery that rewarded those who accumulated during panic. SpaceX holds 8,285 BTC through a bear market while preparing the largest IPO in history. Conviction during extreme fear is the defining trait of generational wealth creation.
Crypto Market News Today: 3 Projects Through the Fear
1. Pepeto: Building Through Fear While SpaceX Holds Through Drawdowns
SpaceX watched $235 million evaporate from its BTC holdings in three months and did not sell a single coin. That is conviction. Pepeto watched the Fear and Greed Index crash to 5 and kept shipping products. That is the same conviction at a stage where the upside is still ahead.
PepetoSwap processes meme trades with live intelligence while the market panics and manual analysis fails. Pepeto Bridge connects chains when fragmentation traps capital during selloffs. Pepeto Exchange gives the $45 billion meme economy a dedicated venue where fear becomes fuel for positioning while others freeze and wait for confirmation.
Staking at 210% locks supply while SpaceX prepares a $1.75 trillion IPO that will make it the biggest publicly traded BTC holder. The presale raised over $7.36 million at $0.000000186 with dual audits from SolidProof and Coinsult. SpaceX does not sell during fear. Pepeto does not stop building during fear. The pattern is identical.
2. XRP: $1.40 With $908M Realized Losses Hitting 2022 Levels
XRP traded at $1.40 on Monday with a 1.3% daily dip and 6.3% weekly loss. Santiment reported XRP realized losses surged to around $908 million over the past week, the highest since 2022. That level of capitulation previously preceded a 114% rally over eight months. If the pattern repeats, XRP could see significant upside in 2026, but current sentiment remains weak.
3. DOGE: Six Consecutive Red Days Before Slight Rebound
Dogecoin dropped to $0.09235 on February 23 before bouncing to $0.09678. The meme coin recorded six straight red days with a 21% monthly loss. Support at $0.095 is critical. If it holds, relief toward $0.12 becomes possible. A breakdown could trigger a slide to $0.09.
Conclusion
The Fear Index hits a historic 5 while SpaceX files for a $1.75 trillion IPO holding 8,285 BTC through a $235 million drawdown. Pepeto at $0.000000186 delivers a 100x scenario on a listing with three products, 210% staking, and $7.36 million raised while building through the kind of fear that creates generational entries.
BTC sat below $1 in 2010 and the fear was real. Nobody knew if code on a computer would ever become money. The holders who refused to sell through that uncertainty became the foundation story of an entire industry. SpaceX is not selling its BTC. Pepeto is not stopping its build. The fear is loudest at the exact moment the opportunity is greatest. The presale fills at https://pepeto.io/ while the index reads 5.

Bitcoin, Ethereum ‘pumping hard’ after Iran strikes, but states brace for financial fallout – DL News
- Bitcoin rises near $67,000 mark, with Ethereum nearing $2,000.
- Iran has confirmed the death of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
- The real price reveal is coming tomorrow, expert says.
Bitcoin has rebounded to around $67,000 after US military strikes on Iran sparked a drop to the $63,000 mark on Saturday. Ethereum, meanwhile, has risen by over 6.5% in the past 24 hours at the time of writing, trading at just under $2,000 after dropping to $1,841 yesterday.
Bitcoin orices briefly rose above $68,000 after Iran’s government confirmed the strikes had killed the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials.
But experts claimed more volatility awaits the crypto sector when US stock markets resume trading tomorrow, as bombs continue to fall across the Middle East.
“The real price discovery happens Monday when US equity markets and Bitcoin exchange-traded funds reopen,” Hayden Hughes, managing partner at the investment firm Tokenize Capital, told Bloomberg. “With missiles hitting Dubai, Iranian retaliation across the Gulf, and Strait of Hormuz closure risk, this is not a contained event.”
Optimists hope crypto ETF investors will continue to display “diamond hands,” and stick with Bitcoin throughout increasingly heated geopolitical turmoil — as has largely proved the case thus far during Bitcoin’s damaging downward slide.
Volatility warnings
Hughes said the crypto markets had reacted rapidly to reports of the start of joint US-Israel military operations against Iran on Saturday.
The total value of the crypto market fell by $128 billion in minutes, he said, adding that forced liquidations had also “cascaded.”
Hughes said that if Bitcoin ETF investors abandon their positions, Bitcoin levels could quickly fall below $63,000.
On X, experts claimed Bitcoin had already shrugged off the shock of February 28’s news.
“Bitcoin and Ethereum are pumping hard,” the crypto markets commentator Ash Crypto wrote on X. “[They have fully] recovered from the Iran strike news and [are] now pumping even higher.”
Ash Crypto also claimed the rebound was evidence the markets think the conflict will be short-lived.
Others concurred.
“Traders generally don’t expect the Iran conflict to have major negative economic consequences, and demand for upside Bitcoin calls has clearly picked up in recent days,” Markus Thielen, the head of research at 10x Research, told Bloomberg.
Following US-Israeli strikes, Iran’s military launched a series of counterattacks, hitting targets in Israel and several Middle Eastern nations.
Korea cautious
Despite crypto analysts’ optimism, global financial chiefs are braced for market shocks. In South Korea, Financial Services Commission chair Lee Eok-won called an emergency meeting on March 1.
Financial leaders in Seoul are concerned the still-booming South Korean stock market could nosedive as a result of the conflict. They warned of an incoming “influx of retail investor bargain hunters” set to take advantage of “short-term adjustments due to geopolitical risks,” South Korean media outlet Fn News reported.
Lee urged investors to be “especially vigilant.”
“The situation in the Middle East remains uncertain,” he said. “And if [the conflict] is prolonged, it could impact the economy in a very real manner.”

Bitcoin Price Rebounds From Monthly Channel Bottom, Could $475,000 Be Next?
Over the weekend, the Bitcoin price and the crypto market witnessed significant pressure amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. After reports of Israeli strikes on Iran, the premier cryptocurrency dropped below $64,000 while dragging the rest of the market along with it.
While the price of BTC seems to have recovered from the conflict-induced slump, there is still the small issue of its broader structure. According to a market expert, Bitcoin may have avoided a negative outcome after holding above $60,000 over the weekend.
BTC Price Closes February Above Pivotal Support
In a recent post on the X platform, Chartered Market Technician Tony Severino shared an insight into the current technical outlook of the Bitcoin price as February came to a close. According to the crypto market expert, the flagship cryptocurrency appears to have bounced back from a crucial support level around the $60,000.

It will gap below the monthly uptrend channel for the first time ever – not even COVID had an open or close below the line
This is a pivotal moment for BTC
But if it happens to bounce, the top of the channel is currently at… pic.twitter.com/vHvX3DZ0vY
— Tony Severino, CMT (@TonySeverinoCMT) February 28, 2026
Severino’s analysis is based on the ascending channel pattern on the Bitcoin price chart on the monthly timeframe. An ascending channel is a pattern in technical analysis marked by two major (upward-sloping) trendlines: the upper line connecting the swing highs and the lower line connecting the swing lows.
Source: @TonySeverinoCMT on X
As seen in the chart above, the asset usually trades within an ascending channel, with the upper boundary line often functioning as a barrier to further growth and the lower trendline serving as a support cushion. Investors can trade between the pattern’s support and resistance levels or after price breaks out (bullish signal) or breaks down (bearish signal).

— Tony Severino, CMT (@TonySeverinoCMT) February 28, 2026
In the market leader’s case, the price has been approaching the lower trendline for the majority of February, implying that a major decision was imminent. According to Severino, the Bitcoin price has never closed beneath this lower boundary, even during the infamous COVID crash in 2020.
Unsurprisingly, the premier cryptocurrency rebounded from the support cushion around $63,000, recovering from the early-weekend slump triggered by the ongoing clash between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Typically, the next target after this bounce-back is the channel’s midline, which could be as high as $475,000.
While historical data and patterns are often good ways to predict future market movements, Severino acknowledged that the chance of the Bitcoin price soaring to as high as $475,000 is indeed slim. Moreover, the current price structure is still bearish, meaning that the market conditions would need to improve for the flagship cryptocurrency to take advantage of this rebound.

Z Score of Bitcoin-to-Gold Ratio Signals ‘Major’ Rally Coming: Analyst
Bitcoin (BTC) is relatively undervalued compared to gold and the global money supply, which could signal a price reversal, according to Samson Mow, the CEO of Bitcoin technology company Jan3.
“Bitcoin is about 24%-66% below its trend relative to gold’s market cap or global money supply, while gold is overextended,” Mow said in a Saturday post on X.
Gold futures for April delivery closed Friday at $5,247.90; Tokenized gold PAX Gold USD was trading at the time of writing at $5,404.14.
Mow also cited Bitcoin’s Z-score, a metric that tracks how close the price of BTC is to its historic average. A Z-score of 0 indicates that the price is in line with the average, while a Z-score above 0 indicates that the price is moving above average levels.
A score below 0 signals that the price is trading below the average. When the Z score of the Bitcoin-to-gold ratio drops below -2, Bitcoin has experienced “major” price rallies, Mow said. The Z score of the BTC-to-gold ratio is about -1.24 at the time of writing.
Data from TradingView shows that the metric dropped below -3 in November 2022, amid the collapse of crypto exchange FTX and the price of BTC rallied by over 150% over the next 12 months.

Earlier, a similar pattern played out during the Covid crash in March 2020, when the metric fell below -2 and Bitcoin reached a low of about $3,717. Bitcoin surged by over 300% in the following 12 months, and by November 2021, BTC reached what was then the all-time high of about $69,000.

Bitcoin to crash to $50,000?
The analysis from Mow is a contrarian view to other analysts, who forecast more pain ahead for the crypto market and a further drop in Bitcoin prices due to investor uncertainty and geopolitical tensions.
The price of BTC may be headed toward $50,000, according to crypto market analysts, who say that price action may be mirroring the 2022 bear market.
Bitcoin fell by over 50% from peak to trough, to a low of $60,000, before staging a limited recovery to current levels of near $66,400 in the wake of this weekend’s developments in the Middle East.
