Paytently Strengthens Regulatory Compliance and Fraud Defence with SEON Partnership

Paytently, the licensed payment institution and orchestration platform, has partnered with fraud prevention scale-up SEON to deploy advanced anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud controls across its infrastructure.

The collaboration sees Paytently integrating SEON’s “command centre” capabilities directly into its platform. This move is designed to provide enterprise-grade protection for merchants operating in regulated sectors, moving fraud prevention from a bolt-on tool to a core infrastructure component.

As a payment institution authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), Paytently connects merchants to a global network of acquirers. By embedding SEON’s technology, the platform can now offer real-time fraud detection, risk scoring, and device intelligence at the orchestration level.

The integration also includes sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening, velocity checks, and centralised case management. This allows Paytently to monitor transactions and investigate suspicious activity from a single dashboard, ensuring it meets strict regulatory reporting requirements.

Samuel Barrett, CEO and co-founder at Paytently, commented: “Operating as a regulated payment institution requires robust fraud and AML infrastructure at the core of the platform. SEON gives us the real-time monitoring, intelligence, and case management we need to meet regulatory standards while protecting our merchants more effectively.”

Merchant value beyond compliance

Beyond meeting regulatory obligations, the partnership aims to deliver tangible commercial benefits to merchants. By intercepting fraudulent activity earlier in the payment flow, the system helps reduce exposure to chargebacks and protects against card testing abuse.

Furthermore, ensuring “cleaner” transaction traffic flows through payment networks is expected to potentially boost approval rates for legitimate transactions.

Matt DeLauro, president, GTM at SEON, added: “Payment orchestration platforms need fraud and AML capabilities that work at infrastructure scale. By embedding SEON’s command centre directly into their platform, Paytently gives merchants centralised protection and compliance monitoring without adding another vendor to manage.”
