However, the consensus was less about the specific names and more about the nature of banking itself, however one attendee was clear: “I don’t think any banks that we know today will be here in a hundred years,” predicting that banking will “completely change”.
This mix of traditional names and radical predictions says something important about the future of finance.
On one side, there is continuity in services, with the real challenge being “understanding what services are they still going to be relevant in a hundred years with all the technology changes”. On the other, there is a prediction of renewal—a new form of banking defined by an AI agent, “like a Warren Buffett in your pocket that will be giving us financial advice”.
